Tennis Menace has the world's largest selection of Tennis Grommets, with many that are no longer available elsewhere. While we strive to list all our available grommets, it is possible that grommets not listed may be available. If you don't see your racquet listed, just ask. We also sell grommets on Ebay as: "RACQUETS-R-US". The prices are however lower if you purchase them here on our website, rather than on Ebay.

You may have been told that grommets for your racquet are No Longer Available & that it is time to buy a new racquet. Don't give up without checking with us. Grommets normally come only in complete sets, however in some cases we may have some individual parts, such as Headguards or Throat Pieces.

Grommets that are readily available elsewhere tend to be inexpensive. If the grommets you seek are NOT Available elsewhere, be prepared! Those rare grommet sets can be Extremely Expensive. with some that are over $200.00 The prices are dependent upon availability & our costs in acquiring these rare grommets.

Tennis Menace normally accepts credit cards for payment, however there are exceptions. Due to a small minority of customers who have scammed us, we've had to impose some payment restrictions on high value grommets.

We don't list the prices on many of our grommets, as prices can & do fluctuate along with market conditions. Note that even those prices listed for grommets are Subject to Change. We strive to always offer you of the lowest price, even if we must inform you of a lower price we find for you elsewhere. e-mail us for the latest up to the minute pricing. Please try to avoid calling with inquiries, as we are not always in front of a computer. If we need any further clarification, we may then ask you to call us, so we can positively verify which grommet you require. We do not want to send you the wrong grommets.

Yes, the prices for some grommets may seem exorbitant, often ridiculous, however consider that the cost of buying a new racquet may be even more expensive. Also consider the time & effort that you'll possibly spend, looking for a suitible replacement racquet. It can make sense to simply stick with the racquet you are used to & comfortable with.

Many customers balk at the prices some rare grommets can fetch. "I can probably buy a Brand New Racquet at that kind of price!" The comedic, but poignant answer to such a response:
Husband to Surgeon: "How much will my wife's Transplant cost?"

Surgeon to Husband: After your insurance pays, balance is $50,000"

Husband to Surgeon: "I can probably get a brand new wife for that."

If the quote we provide you for the grommet you require, is higher than what you're prepared to pay, we understand & just as in the Dr. anecdote above, you can always just buy a new racquet. If you would rather buy a new racquet, possibly costing much more, than pay to fix the one you have, a racquet that you are accustomed to using, & that you know & love & are "used to", while we don't see the sense in doing so, that's your call. If you do decide to move on to another racquet, and the one requiring grommets is in excellent condition otherwise, consider letting someone else getting some use out of it. Since we have the grommets, we may be willing to buy it, put our grommets in and getting it into the hands of someone who still wants to use it and selling it. Consider it PLEASE!

WHY DO GROMMETS WEAR OUT & REQUIRE REPLACEMENT?
Head Guards wear out for a number of reasons, due to aging of plastic, as well as contact with court surfaces. They should be replaced when worn out, to prevent permanent damage to the racquet's structure. Grommet Tubes also wear out due to plastic aging, but also due to stringing process, much more rapidly, if strung by inexperienced stringers. The more often your racquets require stringing, the more often they will also require new grommets. Some grommets have design defects that lead to failure. Examples: Throat Pieces of some Prince O3 and EXO3 racquets, Prince ADVANCED RESPONSE models with Maroon Grommets, EARLY Head grommets that were WHITE & the grommets for many Yonex racquets that utilize what are called SOFT GROMMETS. Grommet replacement isn't always a cut & dry operation. It requires skill & specialized tools to be done correctly. The removal of old grommets requires it, to prevent problems, such as preventing debris from the old grommets ending up inside a racquet's hollow structure, which can result in serious noise issues. We don't recommend you attempt grommet replacement yourself, unless you have the proper tools & the experience required to do it properly.

OEM GROMMETS AVAILABLE FOR MOST MANUFACTURES: Supplying grommets for racquets that are currently, or recently in production is usually easy. Supplying them for older racquets takes a commitment to maintain such an inventory, a commitement most suppliers, other than Tennis Menace are unwilling to undertake.

For example, we have grommets for the Wilson Pro Staff St. Vincent, Chicago & China, Profiles, Pro Staff Classics, N1 Force, Blades, Prince O3's, Graphite, Spectrum Comp, Mach 1000, CTS's, Head Graphite Edge, TXE, TXD, Prestige & Radical Tours, Yamaha Secrets, Fischer Vacuum Pro 90, or Slazenger Pro Braided/X1? Yup! Tennis Menace has 'em.

Thousands of tennis racquet grommets available. We continuously spend the cash to buy these grommets, while others sit on their hands. We often pay many times normal wholesale. In fact, we often pay many times the normal RETAIL. It is, a huge investment. Grommets that are available "everywhere" and not considered to be rare aren't very expensive. However, those that may no longer available from any other source can be extremely expensive. Be prepared!

Pricing is totally dependent upon what we paid for them, as well as how many are still available in our inventory. We understand that some customers feel that paying many times what a set of grommets originally cost may not seem KOSHER, after all grommets are just plastic, but consider our situation. We have made the investment to stockpile our huge inventory, so that at least there is a source for these rare grommets. If you then consider what percentage of this vast inventory will never be sold, as they're no longer in demand, or simply because the current available supply is significantly greater than demand, then the reason for high prices (for the rare ones) becomes understandable. Grommets that are available everywhere are thus going to be "fairly inexpensive" due to competition & the laws of supply and demand. Before we sell a grommet priced higher than normal, we always check to see if it is available elsewehere. If it is & we can't match the price, we'll inform you of the alternate source.

If you've searched everywhere & we are your last resort, we suggest you be prepared for the possibility that prices will not be what you paid previously. Some very rare grommets can cost over $200! It all depends upon their availability.

What you paid for the same grommets in the past, or what you paid for the racquet, has absolutely no bearing on the price for grommets. Consider this scenario. You buy a car for next to nothing. One day it neds a new transmission or engine. Does the fact that you paid almost nothing for the car have any bearing on the repair costs? It's usually less expensive to buy new grommets, than it is to buy new racquets, not to mention the need to get used to a new racquet model.

UPDATE! It has recently come to our attention that the manufactures have altered their grommet strategy for the worse. While in the past they continued to produce & sell the grommets for their discontinued models for a number of years, they've decided that it's better for the bottom line if they no longer do so. In essence they've decided that you will simply have to buy new racquets due to lack of any grommet availability & they're betting that you'll buy a racquet from them again? We fail to see the logic in that.

COUNTERFEIT GROMMETS It has also come to our attention that a specific ebay seller is now sinking to the level of selling counterfeit grommets. So far all we have learned is of some older Wilson grommets being counterfeited, but our sources have informed us that there are plans for others. SAD!

Grommets designed for any specific racquet models are Patented @ their designs are also COPYWRITED. They are made to rigid specifications, with high quality materials, to correctly fit the racquets they are designed for & to not only protect that racquet from wear, but also to protect the strings from damage. They are made with materials designed to last. Making any attempt at copying them, unless extreme care is taken and a significant expenditure is made has the possibility of inherent faults, not to mention questionable legality. To our knowledge these copies are not molded with their original brand markings, so they are easily identified AS COUNTERFEIT. The quality, as well as the durability of these counterfeits must be drawn into question. Tennis Menace provides ORIGINAL BRAND NAME GROMMETS when we sell you a grommet set. You know they are the correct ones & that they'll fit properly, and since they came from the original manufacture of the racquet they were designed for, you can be assured that they are of first quality. Tennis Menace does offer what we call Custom Grommeting, in the rare case that the original grommets for a specific racquet model are no longer available, but these are not copies, simply first quality ALTERNATIVE products we use to make a orphan racquet stringable. Often we utilize grommets from other models, of that manufacture to do this custom work.

WE CAN CUSTOM GROMMET ANY RACQUET, NO EXCEPTIONS! If grommets are no longer available for your particular racquet model, even from us, we can re-grommet your racquet using our custom grommet replacement system. The cost starts at just over $1.00 per hole, so it varies depending upon a racquet's design. Racquets would need to be sent to us for grommeting, & if so, stringing is required along with our custom grommet service.If desired you can supply your own string.

NOTE: Grommet sales are normally considered FINAL, All exchanges and or refunds are entirely at Tennis Menace's sole discretion. If we made an error, of course we will fix it. If you made the error, we will fix it as well, as long as you are willing to incur all the cost involved & the "wrong" grommets come back undamaged. We began to have some buyers switching grommets on us, returning grommets other than what we sent, or sending back grommet sets with parts that they have removed. That's the reason we enacted payment restrictions on high value grommet sales. As such, you will need to trust that Tennis Menace is not in business to rip anyone off. We go out of our way to verify that we're sending you the correct grommets and that the sets are COMPLETE, with ALL the parts, done BEFORE we ship them. If this policy is not acceptable, seriously consider taking your business elsewhere, not that there may be any "elsewhere". Repeating: we reserve the right to specify "how we are paid" for any specific order.

We don't normally take grommets back, & give refunds, although exceptions can be made, so it's important you or your stringer verify that they match the worn ones in your racquet, or the hole pattern of your naked racquet, before any attempt is made at installing them. Keeping them in the sealed transparent package we sent you, UNOPENED, until a visual inspection, to confirm they are a match is done, is suggested & getting such sealed sets back is one way of our being sure that no switching took place. If by chance you made a mistake & ordered the wrong grommets, contact us before sending them back. We'll go over the options available to you, and if a return is agreed upon, we will supply you with a unique RA # "Return Authorization" #, required with all such returns. Upon receipt, we verify that the returned grommets are the ones we sent, that they're not missing any parts & have not been damaged, which often ocurs due to an unsuccessful attempt at installing them, before issuing any credits, or possibly replacing them, which may or may not be at the same price. All shipping costs are paid by you, unless we made an error. It's your job to make sure you're are ordering the correct grommets to begin with! Repeat! It's up to you to correctly specify the EXACT model & or Headsize of the racquet when you are placing any order.

We are well aware of the differences & go out of our way when we receive your order, to make 100% sure there is no ambiguity, as to which grommet you need, however, if you leave out a key part of a racquets name, or make a mistake as to the headsize or string pattern, things we may ask you, you can understand that it isn't the best idea to order a grommet, for a racquet that you do not actually have in front of you, in your possession, such as when it is sitting at your stringers!

Racquets often come in multiple headsizes & or come in varying lengths, as well as often having addendums to the name like: +, Pro, Tour, Team, in their model name: i.e.The Head Prestige, Pro, Tour, Classic, Intelligence, Liquid Metal, Flexpoint, Youtek, Youtek IG, Youtek Graphene, Youtek Graphene XT, Youtek Graphene Touch, Auxetic, are all Prestiges, however they often take entirely different grommets.

Since we must rely on what you specify when placing an order, we send invoices for your approval, spelling out in detail, exactly what you ordered, so as to eliminate any arguments later. Racquets sold in other countries can often differ from U.S. models. We're a U.S. dealer, & not always aware of all the non U.S. models, thus in an attempt at avoiding issues, we go out of our way, before the sale, to verify that the grommets we are about to sell you are the correct ones for your racquet. If you have an inkling that your racquet may not be from the U.S., we suggest you inform us of that issue. Assume all grommets we sell are are for U.S. racquet models, unless otherwise indicated! Again, we'll go out of our way to try & verify which grommet you require, but ultimately we have no choice other than to rely on the accuracy of the information you provide to us.

GROMMET PARTS, such as the Headguard or Throatpiece, are not normally available individually. They all come together as a set, however in certain cases, we may be able to supply some individual parts. All you can do is ASK!

Most but NOT ALL racquets can have their Butt Caps replaced. Whether due to damage, or simply the need to change the size or shape of your racquet's Butt Cap, we have an extensive supply from most of the manufacturers.

PALLET REPLACMENT TO CHANGE A RACQUETS GRIPSIZE!
If the brand of racquet you need a grip change on does not offer replacement pallets, we custom make pallets, & can change the grip size & or shape of many other racquets that have foamed handles. If the handles are Graphite, nothing can be done other than increasing the size. Raquets must be sent to us for Custom Palleting.

The Head Radical (Originals) from the Bumblebee through the Radical Twintube, along with the Pro Tour 280's, In both 630 & 690 headsizes, require a unique grommet which differs from newer models. While some newer Radical grommets such as the Ti/iRadical may fit, their individual tubes are thinner, thus they may BUZZ. PRINCE GROMMET ISSUES Be aware that some manufactures, notably PRINCE have produced a few different versions of the same racquet. The name & graphics may be exactlty the same, but with an entirely different grommet design, NOT interchangeable with the original version. They consider this to be product improvement. Perhaps you won't be quick to agree it was an improvement at all, if you end up with the wrong grommets being sent to you. For this reason, we always take time to verify which version you have, if applicable. Look for the TX / TC Code which should be found inside the racquet's Throat Triangle.

We became aware a number of years ago of Prince racquets, still being sold, but long ago discontinued, that no longer have grommets available for them. This was further exacerbated by the sale of Prince where the new owners, investment bankers, decided that supporting the old product was no longer in their best interest. Apparently since these grommets were not available from Prince, people stole grommet parts from the Prince racquets on shelves, from stores such as Sports Authority, prior to their going out of business, and since those racquets were ultimately sold at liquidation, often at deep discounts, customers are coming to the realization that they purchased discounted paper weights. A few years ago Prince decided to eliminate all retail distribution, other than through Tennis Warehouse & Dick's. Although they have since backpeddled on that, they refuse to sell premium products to anyone who will sell their products online, thus giving Tennis Warehouse a Monopoly. Prince has now sadly become simply a "House Brand" for both Tennis Warehouse & Dick's.

Here's a suggestion we hope you heed. If you have a Prince racquet that needs grommets, tell your stringer to refrain from removing & disposing of the old grommets, until you've found a definitive source for replacement and have verified that all the parts are included. In the last few years, Prince seems to have decided that certain "Key Pieces" such as the Inserts in their Headguards, or in some cases the Side Inserts or Throatpiece, are not WEAR parts, & often they weren't included in the replacement grommet sets. Thus saving the parts that are currently in the racquet, may be prudent.

Over our many years of selling Prince racquets & installing replacement grommets, we've begun to notice issues affecting owners of some Prince models.

1) Some CTS series racquets & a few other models from the 80's have headguards that don't seem to fit properly. The danger is the possibility of damaging the headguard while attempting to force it to fit. If they don't seem fit easily STOP & contact us. Soaking them in Boiling water or Heating them with a Hair Dryer, attempting to soften them isn't the solution, however there is an easy fix for the problem, if you simply ASK!

2) The Throat Pieces on Prince O3 Speedport & EXO3 racquets were poorly designed & are allowing the string to cut through the plastic, rendering the racquets "Unstringable". The problem is that the Throat Pieces are not normally sold alone & only were supplied in Grommet sets. That would mean that even if your Headguard, or the other grommets are not worn, in order to replace those worn Throat Pieces, a full set of grommets needs to be purchased. In some cases, we may have extra Prince Throat Pieces, so the purchase of an entire grommet set may not be necessary. We have also developed a FIX that will prevent these parts from being damaged by the strings again in the future.

THE WILSON PRO STAFF 85 SAGA

The Wilson Pro Staff 85, made famous by Pete Sampras, has a complicated history. 1st made in Wilson's Chicago Factory, it featured no Headguard, just grommet strips. (T-4824) Skipping a step in this timeline. I've no info on changes when Wilson had the racquets made in Belgium by Donnay. I would imagine these would have used the same Chicago grommets, but I'm not sure. The guardless feature continued on early versions of racquets made in the St. Vincent (U.S. Virgin Islands) factory, although the grommets were slightly different & not 100% interchangeable, without cutting them. When other companies began to introduce headguards on their racquets, those St. Vincent racquets incorporated one as well. The early guardless grommets & the later ones with guards are Interchangeable.

Unknown to most, the St. Vincent factory burned down, resulting in a period of time with Wilson having no high end tennis frames available. When production resumed it was in Taiwan & the resulting Pro Staff 85 was as identical as possible, right down to the grommets, so YES the St. Vincent and Taiwan frames take the same grommets. At some point, the cost of production in Taiwan, became prohibitive, so Wilson switched to a mainland China factory with the name Chiao Ta (marked on the racquet). These take an entirely new grommet (G5914) that while CLOSE, is NOT compatible with the earlier versions. These grommets easily identifiable as they have a MATTE finish on the two side strips, as compared to all the earlier grommets types which were Glossy. The Chicago gromets are unmarked, however St. Vincent / Taiwan grommets have the code "22D-1615" embossed into the plastic. Tennis Menace has ALL 3 different grommet types in stock.

YONEX TENNIS GROMMETS

YONEX & THEIR SOFT GROMMET SYNDROME YONEX produced many models of racquets that had a feature of "Soft Rubber Grommets". These were in the throat, and/or at at the sides & possibly at the top. These are identifiable in that they are soft & rubbery, rather than hard plastic. We have seen them on GOLD, SILVER, CLEAR & BLACK, & they ALL DETERIORATE over time, even the new ones in our stock of new Yonex replacement grommets. One would think that such a large & supposedly reputable Japanese firm, from a country where quality control is king, would have fixed such an issue. We would expect that Yonex would have had their customer's backs. Sadly that was not the case. Yonex never even aknowledged that there was an issue, & they simply ignored it. Normally all of the racquets would be unrepairable, but that's not the case.

Tennis Menace has developed a method whereby we can replace these Defective Soft Rubber Grommets" with our own Custom Grommets, which permanently fixes the problem. This will often require the racquet being sent to us. We have marked all the models we are currently aware have this issue with a #
