While we strive to list all our available grommets, it is often possible that grommets not listed may be available. If you don't see your racquet listed, just ask.

We sell grommets on Ebay under the Ebay ID of "RACQUETS-R-US". The prices of our grommets are however lower if you purchase them here on our website, rather than on Ebay.

You may have been told that grommets for your racquet are No Longer Available & that it is time to buy a new racquet. Do not give up without checking with us, as you may be pleasantly surprised.

Grommets normally come only in complete sets, however in some cases we may have some individual parts, i.e. Headguards or Throat Pieces.

Pricing for Rare and Discontinued Grommets
Grommets that are readily available elsewhere tend to be inexpensive. If the grommets you seek are NOT Available elsewhere, be prepared! Those rare grommet sets can be Extremely Expensive. with some that are over $200.00 The prices are dependent upon availability as well as our costs in acquiring these rare grommets.

Tennis Menace normally accepts credit cards for payment, however there are exceptions. Due to our occasionally getting scammed, we've imposed payment restrictions on high value grommets.

We don't list the prices on many of our grommets, as prices can & do fluctuate along with market conditions. Note that even those where prices are listed are Subject to Change.

We strive to always offer you of the lowest price. Often we may inform you of a lower price we find for you elsewhere. e-mail us for the latest up to the minute pricing. Please try to avoid calling with inquiries, as we are not always in front of a computer. If we need any further clarification, we may then ask you to call us, so we can positively verify which grommet you require. We don't want to send you the wrong grommets.

Why Are Some Grommets So Expensive?
Yes, the prices for some grommets may seem exorbitant, often even ridiculous, however consider that the cost of buying a new racquet may be significantly more expensive. Also consider the time & effort that you'll possibly spend, looking for a suitible replacement racquet. It thus can often make sense to simply stick with the racquet you are used to & comfortable with.

The comedic, but poignant answer to such a response:

Husband to Surgeon: "How much will my wife's Transplant cost?"

Surgeon to Husband: After your insurance pays, balance is $50,000"

Husband to Surgeon: "I can probably get a brand new wife for that."

Considering Alternatives to Buying Grommets?
We have had quite a few conversations with customers, who after hearing how expensive it is to buy replacement grommets for their particular racquet, have informed us that they'll buy used racquets of the same model, which in many cases are much less expensive than buying the grommets & then cannibalize those racquets for their grommets. Other than possibly re-using a throatpiece, to those believing such an option is a viable one, I wish you nothing but "Good Luck with that!"

Why? Quite simple. Grommets can't be re-used. It's nearly impossible to remove grommets from a racquet that has been strung, and then re-install them into another racquet. A few individuals have argued this point with me. It's not that I can be sure that they didn't attempt it, it's just that there is no way that could result in a fully functional racquet.

If the quote we provide you for the grommet you require, is higher than what you're prepared to pay, we understand and just as in the Doctor / Husband anecdote above, you always have the options of simply buying a new racquet or racquets. If you would rather buy a new racquet or racquets, possibly costing much more, than pay to fix the one or ones you have, a racquet or racquets that you are accustomed to using, & that you know and love & are "used to", that's your call. If you do end up deciding to move on to another racquet or racquets, and it or they are in excellent condition otherwise, please consider letting someone else get some use out of it or them. Since we have the grommets, we may be willing to buy your racquet or racquets, install our grommets and get it or them into the hands of a new owner.

Why Do Grommets Wear Out & Require Replacement?
Head Guards wear out for a number of reasons; aging of plastic, how they are stored, as well as how often they contact the court surfaces. They should be replaced when worn out, to prevent permanent often irreversible damage to the racquet's structure. If you wait too long, the racquet can be irreprably damaged.

Grommet Tubes wear out due to plastic aging, and storage issues, but also due to the stringing process. Regardless of their age or storage conditions they may wear out more rapidly, if strung by an inexperienced stringer. additionally, the more often your racquets require stringing, the more often they may also require new grommets. Stringing a racquet with damaged grommet tubes can result in premature string failure or permanent damage to your racquet, possibly rendering it unstringable.

Some grommets have design defects that lead to premature failure.
Examples:

Throat Pieces of Prince O3 and EXO3 racquets,
Prince Advanced Response w/ Maroon Grommets,
Early Head grommets often made of White Plastic,
Yonex racquets utilizing Rubber Grommet inserts.

Grommet replacement isn't always a cut & dry operation.
It requires skill and specialized tools, to be done correctly. The removal of the old grommets can be problematic as well. In the hands of an Inexperienced stringer debris from the old grommets, can be left behind, which often ends up inside a racquet's hollow structure. This can can result in serious noise issues. We do not recommend you attempting any grommet replacement yourself, unless you've proper tools and experience.

We have the OEM Grommets For Most Manufacturers
Supplying grommets for racquets that are currently, or recently in production is usually easy. Supplying them for older racquets takes a commitment to maintain such an inventory, something most suppliers, other than Tennis Menace are unwilling to undertake.

We have grommets for racquets such as: the Wilson Pro Staff St. Vincent, Chicago & China, Profiles, Pro Staff Classics, N1 Force, & early Blades. Prince O3's, Graphite, Spectrum Comp, Mach 1000, Rip Stick, Mono, CTS's. Head Graphite Edge, TXE, TXD, Prestige & Radical Tours & Pro Tour 280's. Yamaha Secrets. Fischer Vacuum Pro 90. Slazenger Pro Braided/X1. How about Rossignols? Yup! Tennis Menace has 'em.

Our Inventory and Pricing Philosophy
We continuously spend the cash to buy these grommets, while others sit on their hands. We often pay many times normal wholesale. In fact, in some cases, we pay many times the normal Retail. It's a huge undertaking as well as requiring a major investment.

Grommets that are available "everywhere" and thus not considered to be rare aren't very expensive. However, those that may no longer available from other sources can be extremely expensive. Be prepared! Pricing is totally dependent upon what we paid for them, as well as how many are still available in our inventory. We understand that some customers feel that paying many times what a set of grommets cost in the past may not seem KOSHER, after all grommets are just plastic, but consider our situation. We have made the investment to stockpile our huge inventory, so that at least there is a source for these rare grommets.

If you then consider what percentage of this vast inventory will never be sold, as they're no longer in demand, or simply because the current available supply is significantly greater than demand, then the reason for high prices (for the rare ones) becomes understandable. Grommets available everywhere are thus going to be "fairly inexpensive" due to competition & the laws of supply & demand. Before we ever give a price quote or sell a grommet priced higher than normal, we always check to see if it is available elsewehere. If it is & we can't match the price, we will inform you of the alternate source.

If you've searched everywhere & we are your last resort, we suggest you be prepared for the possibility that prices will not be what you may have paid previously. Some very rare grommets can cost over $200! It all depends upon their availability. What you paid for the same grommets in the past, or what you paid for the racquet, has absolutely no bearing on the price for grommets. Consider this scenario. You buy a used car for next to nothing. One day it needs a new transmission or engine. Does the fact that you may have paid almost nothing for the car have any bearing on the parts or repair costs? Of course not. It's usually less expensive to buy new grommets, than it is to buy new racquets, not to mention the need to (get used to) a new racquet model. This becomes especially true if you maintain multiples of the same model.

UPDATE! Manufacturer Grommet Strategy
It has recently come to our attention that the manufactures have altered their grommet strategy for the worse. While in the past they continued to produce & sell the grommets for their discontinued models for quite a few years, they've decided that it's better for the bottom line if they no longer do so. In essence they've decided that you will simply have to buy new racquets due to lack of any grommet availability & they're betting that you'll buy a racquet from them again? We fail to see the logic in that.

Custom Grommeting Services (For any Racquet)
If grommets are no longer available for your particular racquet model, even from us, we can still replace your racquets grommets, making it like new again, using our custom grommet replacement system, which offers two distinct types of Customization:

The 1st type of Custom Grommeting provides grommets that are for the most part 100% permanent, most probably grommets that will never need to be replaced again. You read that right. The grommet tubes will probably never wear out nor need to be replaced. This method of Custom Grommeting requires that the racquet be sent to us. These Custom Grommets utilize a user replaceable Head Guard Alternative, comprised of multiple layers of Racquet HeadTape, in progressive lengths, designed to result in the same weight, balance & swingweight as the stock racquet. This Head Guard Alternative can be replaced at any time, without having to restring! Installing such a system is very labor intensive, but it only has to be done ONCE. We provide you with what we call a MAP of the Head Guard Array, so you or your stringer will easily be able to create a "new one" each time it becomes necessary. Stringing is required along with this Custom Grommet Service. If desired you can supply your own string, or you can choose from our selection of over 500 strings.

The 2nd method of Custom Grommeting is what we call Franken-Grommeting. While similar to a normal set of replacement grommets, these are made up of sections of Grommets made for other racquets. We may be able to send these to you if we HAVE or can ACQUIRE the racquet in question, to use as a guide or template for making a suitable set of Custom Grommets. If not, we again would need the racquet sent to us, and again stringing would be rquired, so we can design these around your racquet.These grommets use a normal headguard and are thus not necessarily permanent, & like OEM grommets, the headguard will probably wear down over time & thus need replacement.

Sales, Return, and Exchange Policy (Final Sales)
NOTE: Grommet sales are normally considered FINAL. All exchanges and or refunds are entirely at Tennis Menace's sole discretion. If we made an error, of course we'll fix it. If you made the error, we will fix it as well, as long as you are willing to incur all the costs involved, & the "wrong" grommets come back complete and undamaged. If our payment policy is not acceptable, we suggest taking your business elsewhere, not that there may be any "elsewhere". Repeating: we reserve the right to specify "how we are paid" for any specific order. This issue pertains to high priced grommets.

We began to have some buyers playing the old switcheroo on us. switching grommets we sent them, and returning completely different grommets, or sending back grommet sets with parts that they have removed. That's the reason we've had to enact payment restrictions on high value grommet sales. You need to trust that Tennis Menace is not in business to rip anyone off. We go out of our way to verify that we're sending you the correct grommets and that the sets are COMPLETE, with ALL the parts, done BEFORE we ship them.

We don't normally take grommets back, & give refunds, although exceptions can be made, so it's important you or your stringer verify that they match the worn ones in your racquet, or the hole pattern of your naked racquet, before any attempt is made at installing them. Keeping them in the sealed transparent package we sent you, Unopened, until a visual inspection, to confirm they are a match is done, is suggested and getting such sealed sets back is one method we utilize in our being sure that no switching or pilfering took place.

If by chance you made a mistake & ordered the wrong grommets, contact us before sending them back. We'll go over the options available to you, and if a return is agreed upon, we will supply you with a unique RA #, "Return Authorization" #, required with all such returns. Upon receipt, we verify that the returned grommets are the ones we sent, that they're not missing any parts nor have they been damaged, which often ocurs due to an unsuccessful attempt at installing them, before issuing any credits, or possibly replacing them, which may or may not be at the same price. All shipping costs are paid by you, unless we made an error.

It's your job to make sure you're are ordering the correct grommets to begin with! Repeat! It's up to you to correctly specify the exact Model & or Headsize of the racquet when you are placing any order.

We are well aware of the differences & go out of our way when we receive your order, to make 100% sure there is no ambiguity, as to which grommet you need, however, if you leave out a key part of a racquets model name, or provide us with the wrong info as to headsize or string pattern, things we may ask you when you initially placed the order, you can understand why we can't be responsible. It isn't the best idea to order a grommet, for a racquet that you do not actually have in front of you, in your possession, such as when it is sitting at your stringers, since the above mentioned errors can be made

Racquets often come in multiple headsizes & or come in varying lengths, as well as often having addendums to the name like: +, Pro, Tour, Team, in their model name: i.e.The Head Prestige, Pro, Tour, Classic, Intelligence, Liquid Metal, Flexpoint, Youtek, Youtek IG, Youtek Graphene, Youtek Graphene XT, Youtek Graphene Touch, Auxetic, are all Prestiges, however they often take entirely different grommets. Since we must rely on what you specify when placing an order, we send invoices for your approval, via e-mail, prior to any payment being made, spelling out in detail, exactly what you ordered, so as to eliminate any ambiguity.

Racquets sold in other countries can often differ from U.S. models. We're a U.S. dealer, & not always aware of all the non U.S. models, thus in an attempt at avoiding issues, we go out of our way, before the sale, to verify that the grommets we are about to sell you are the correct ones for your racquet.

If you have any inkling that your racquet may not be from the U.S., we suggest you inform us of that issue. Assume all grommets we sell are are for U.S. racquet models, unless otherwise indicated! Again, we will go out of our way to verify which grommet you require, but ultimately we have no choice other than to rely on the accuracy of the information you provide to us.

Other Parts & Services
Grommet parts, such as the Headguard or Throatpiece, are not normally available individually. They all come together as a set, however in certain cases, we may be able to supply some individual parts. All you can do is ASK.

Butt Caps can be replaced on most racquets although there are a few that are non- removeable. Whether due to damage, or simply the need to change the size, cushion, or shape of your racquet's Butt Cap, we have them from most of the manufacturers.

Pallet Replacement is possible on a number of racquet models. If the racquet you need a grip change on does not offer replacement pallets, we often can custom make pallets, and can change the grip size and or shape of many palletless racquets that have foamed handles. If the handles are Graphite, nothing can be done other than increasing the size. Raquets must be sent to us for Custom Palleting.

Throat Yokes are available for many aluminum racquets. Prince Classics (Glossy & Matte), Prince Jr. and many Head models: Edge, Director, Master, Vector, Pro. We also have an extremely rare Dunlop Volley II Throat Yoke.

Head String-Lock System Barels & Wedges are available.
String Locks permit individual string installation on many I-Beam Aluminum racquets sold by Head. THey may also be adaptable to models such as the Prince Classic, or Le-Coq Sportif. True Proportional Stringing is possible when using Head String Locks. Each string is independently tensioned, and can vary due to length, and each string is thus independently replaceble. Watch Video
